Here is Part Three of my ‘Season Predictions‘ series.
With the Eagles sitting pretty at 6-2, call me a homer, blah, blah, after the first half of the season, they will face what could possibly be their three toughest games in a four game stretch.
Game Nine: Eagles vs Broncos
As much as the Broncos lack in a franchise Quarterback (yet!) they still have one of the best Defenses in the NFL especially when it comes to their D-Line and Secondary, but there are vulnerabilities with this team and their Offense, minus their Wide Recievers, leaves a lot to be desired. Simeon or Lynch? Is Jamaal Charles still any good? Who is going to be their Tight End? Has the O-Line improved with new additions? Any one, or all of these questions could be the downfall of the Broncos this season, but even so Wentz is going to have to be at the top of his game to beat Von Miller and co. on the Defense, but I think the Offense really lets this team down, and the Eagles can sneak a win. Eagles move to 7-2.
Game Ten: Eagles @ Cowboys
As I write this a report has come out saying Zeke Elliott has got into an ‘altercation’ at a bar (see here), that on top of the ongoing investigation into him could lead to some sort of suspension this season. But sadly for Eagles fans, that suspension won’t likely be ten games long and Zeke will be available for this one. I think, as much as I hate the Cowboys, that they’ll get a W in this one. Rod Marinelli is a Defensive genuis and gets a level of play out of his team that no one could expect and as long as Dak continues to grow (although, don’t say this too loundly, I do think he will have a slight fall down to earth this season), the Cowboys are set for the next few years. Cowboys win by a touchdown. Eagles fall to 7-3.
Game Eleven: Eagles vs Bears
I think the Bears are a bottom three NFL team. So unless Mitch Trubisky is a revalation as a rookie I can’t see anything but another top three draft pick next April. Their Defense has parts, Leonard Floyd, Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman are all very good players, and the O-Line has star talent. But an O-Line and a Linebacking core aren’t going to win games alone, especially on the road. The Bears lose badly. Eagles are 8-3.
Game Twelve: Eagles @ Seahawks
The Eagles are going to lose this one, the Seahawks are almost invincible at home and with their Defence being as good as it always is, and the best Eagles that never was Russell Wilson getting better by the year, the Seahawks will be hopeful of a return to the Super Bowl this season, and I see no reason why they can’t achieve that. Seahawks win a close contest. Eagles finish the 3rd quarter of the season at 8-4.
Come back next week to find out if i think this Eagles team can cement a play-off birth for the first time since 2013.
‘Till next time.
